After eight seasons with the Patriots, Bellichick and crew shipped five time pro-bowler Richard Seymour to the perennial doormats of the NFL, the Oakland Raiders, for their 2011 first round pick.
Initial Reaction: What the effff!!! This is Richard Seymour, the anchor of our defense- how can we just trade him one week before the seasons starts! This is like when we released Lawyer Milloy the week before the season started in 2003. [and then we went 14-2 and won the Superbowl]
Secondary Reaction: ....Wait a minute... OAKLAND'S first round pick! The only the thing that could be better would be a Lion's first round pick... This could easily end up being a top 5 pick, and if it isn't a top ten pick, I will be surprised. The last two top ten picks the Pats have had Seymour, and Mayo have absolutely ripped it up, so this 2011 guy should be big for us.
Thirdly (this isn't the right word) Reaction: Do we still have big97 Jarvis Green. Embarassingly, I have missed the nearly the entire Pat's pre-season, and have no idea what our D-Line depth is like. Jarvis, Wilfork, and Warren isn't a terrible front three.
Fourthly Reaction: Bill Bellichick knows best. If this keeps us competitive- I'm in. Not that Seymour was very old, just 29, but we are sort of re-vamping our D anyhow as we've lost Bruschi, Vrabel, and Rodney Harrison already this offseason. [Note: I'm not stupid and really don't think this is actually a good thing... I'm just being a optimistic for a change... but not really] Nevermind--- I'm not sure even I know what I'm trying to say. Trust in Bill.

I believe, if I'm not mistaken, the correct term would be "tertiary" reaction. No big deal. I may or may not have Googled it.
You know I was thinking it was something like... but I never did arrive at that exactly combination of letters.... so I gave up.
