Why are people blaming the loss to Miami on Matt Cassel?
Stephen Neal absolutely could not come back too fast. The offensive line's performance actually had me wishing that they'd play as well as the St. Louis Rams' O-Line--a unit that can't even get Stephen Jackson 45 yards against mediocre defenses. Every time I flipped the channel back to CBS from the Red Sox game (that's how bad it was), Cassel was being pressured from every single 3-dimensional geometric angle. Even if Optimus Prime was our quarterback, I doubt he'd be able to hit any receiver under that kind of pressure. Why Optimus Prime, you say? Because O.P is sweet. Deal with it.
I'll be furious if Justin Morneau wins another undeserved MVP.
I don't even care if Pedroia or Youkilis wins it, but as long as this clown doesn't win, I'll be happy. I don't even think he's the best player on his team (Mauer), let alone in the entire AL. And the excuse that he should win if the Twins make it to the playoffs is completely ridiculous. The freaking Nationals could win that division. In fact, not only is Morneau not the best player on his team, but he's not the best player in his division (Mauer or M. Cabrera, who is on the last place team in said division). Woop-dee-doo, Morneau led the Twinkies to 87 wins this year, the second least of any division winner (Dodgers). Youkilis has better power numbers, a better average, and better facial hair. Pedroia is just plain better, no explanation needed. Plus, they both play on the better team, and in the better division. Need I say more? Fine, I will. Carlos Quentin is still better, and he's missed a month of action. Josh Hamilton is also better, and his ratio of illicit drugs done to RBIs is much higher (About 1:1 for Hamilton, to probably 0:1 for that pansy-ass Morneau). See? Morneau clearly doesn't deserve the MVP. I've proven it once and for all.
I didn't realize that when a highway goes from 3 lanes to 2, or from 4 lanes to 3, it literally changes everyone's driving attitude.
I don't understand it. It's like when people see that the far right lane merges into the middle-right lane, they have to slam on their brakes just to make sure that the traffic behind them knows about the quick switch the Department of Transportation is pulling. I know this is completely non-sports related, but it happens every day. It's worth mentioning. Not only do people initially slam on their brakes like an asteroid has just landed on the road, but nobody seems to know the meaning of the word "alternate." It just doesn't cross their mind that if someone were to get in front of them, it would add a maximum of .34 seconds to their commute. I seriously doubt that anyone has a wife waiting to pound them with a frying pan if they come home at 5:00:00.34 instead of 5:00:00.00. Get a grip and learn how to merge, because I do have a roommate waiting to strike me with a baseball bat when I get home at 6:30 instead of 6:00, and I forced my team to forfeit the softball game (hasn't happened yet, but it will).
Call me crazy, but replacing a 30-point guy (Metropolit) with an 80-point guy with even more potential and great defensive skills (Bergeron) can only make a team better. About 50 points better, if I did the math right. And Phil Kessel seems to have learned his lesson in the playoffs last year after being benched for not being "physical enough." These two things and the addition of Michael Ryder make our offense something to contend with. Plus, with our annually good defense, I don't see how anyone can even argue with me that we'll finish at worst 5th in the East. The only way we could finish worse is with bad coaching and innumerable mental mistakes. Oh, wait...
The Patriots should still win the AFC East.
You heard it here 15th. After last week's loss to Miami, the season can only get better, right? I think so. And I seriously doubt that the Bills will continue at their torrid pace. Plus, with our cake schedule, how can we not win the East? We won't go anywhere in the playoffs, but another playoff berth would be nice, just so I get to watch at least one playoff game with great interest. We all know that Belichick teams rebound from losses better than anyone else, so what makes anyone think the defense won't step it up, or the offensive line will get dominated again? I doubt either of those things happen again this year. That's just my experience with these BB Patriots.
I'm going to flip out at Joe Buck at least once during the playoffs.
I absolutely can't stand this guy. It seems as though he can't stand Boston/New England teams, so it would also seem we've reached a mutual agreement to dislike each other. I've never heard him say anything good about a Boston team--when they do something good, it's usually because another team did something poorly. Really Joe? Did it ever cross your mind that Boston sports teams are actually so good that they make the other teams look bad? He might be as bad as Bryant Gumble, but he's just an all-around dolt--at least Buck generally understands the sports that he's broadcasting. He just understands them with a blind hate of the Boston area, which in turn forces me to hate him.
I should probably get back to work.
Now that I've bored you all to the level of boredom that I was experiencing, I feel as though I have to go bore myself some more to make up for it. I apologize.

While I was quite against Cassel not throwing Moss the deep ball, I do not blame for the loss to Miami. The defense played ATROCIOUSLY... completely out schemed, and completely outplayed. Cassel really is in an unfairly tough spot. We know we can't expect him to be Tom Brady, yet during the games, I still feel like we do.
About the ongoing MVP debate... its a loopy year. I have no clue who is going to win it... Morneau, Youk, Pedroia, and even ARod wouldn't surprise me (though it would complete bull if ARod won in the first year the Yanks don't make the postseason in 14 years).
Thats a low blow at Josh Hamilton man... he had to completely change his life around to get clean... he didn't play for 2-3 years and now he's tearing up in the big leagues? It's just absurd.
I think I may come around with a Bruins preview sometime this week... Also if we could get some hockey east commentary this year... that might be cool.
I still the Pats should win the division too. But its going to be tight... and probably a little weird. The whole AFC is kind of being upside at the moment...
It's not a low blow to Hamilton at all. Reasoning: I was simply stating how impressive it is that he has so many RBIs considering the sheer amount of drugs he took, from which he had to clean up. So there.
Also, now that I think about it--people say how awesome Josh Hamilton is because he got over an addiction to Heroin and came back to dominate the MLB. What about players who never got addicted to heroin, and just plain dominated the MLB the whole time?
.It's always nice to see junkies kick the habit, but I honestly don't think he deserves any more than the guy who completely said "No" in the first place. That shows even more character, in my opinion, and should be respected just as much if not more.
So, in conclusion--it's good that Hamilton got over his addiction, and stopped with the drugs, but he still put HIMSELF in that situation, which I think is forgotten sometimes.
Judging by how you and I live are lives (for the most part cocaine and heroin free), I agree for sure with what you are saying.
Personally, I'm more surprised by Hamilton's comeback *[can it be a comeback if you were never there in the first place?, I don't think so], and that he became one of the lead leaders so quickly.
If this conversation had taken place in person I undoubtedly would have laughed at the joke and proceeded to join you in praising DP and his deservedness for the MVP.
True, comments like that usually work better in live conversation. I still agree with the heart of your point, though, that Hamilton had to change his life around and whatnot...it's just the fact that he put himself in that situation that makes me less inclined to praise him. However, just because I don't praise him doesn't mean I don't like him. He clearly has *developed* good character through all of this, and is undoubtedly a better person than before.
