Every Sunday since the second week of the football season has been an awkward experience for me. As I don the replica jersey of our fallen hero, Tom Brady, I can't help but feel a slight pang as I realize the implications of the cyclic act. It's symbolic; it's like mankind ritualistically praying every week to a divine entity, necessitated by a massive fall from grace. To make amends through lamenting the past. To bring them back to that vaunted Garden of Eden that they fell from.
I don't know about religion, but having faith in the Patriots minus Brady is working.
Let's face it -- in his career, Matt Cassel may have roughly the same play time as Matt Ryan has had so far (NFL, let's not talk about college play times for the sake of my example). But he's still got experience. How do you sit on the bench with someone like Tom Brady (well, at practice, I guess) and not pick up a thing or two?
And it's showing -- his start is not bad by any standard, let alone that of a back up replacing an NFL icon. This Sunday, with one 66 yards pass to Randy Moss, he established that he's still got the arm and accuracy to make Randy a deep threat, which will open things up on the flats, drags, and screens. If he keeps this up, I'm not giving up on the playoff hopes.
The only things I'm relatively worried about right now is our defense giving up so many points per game, and the strange logic in putting Sammy Morris above LaMont Jordan in the depth chart.

I did not see the Pats game on Sunday as it's not always the easiest thing to do in Argentina, but I did see Cassel's 2 picks in the box score. How ugly were they?
I'm pumped he found Randy deep- that does a ton for our offense.
Also Buffalo showed what we kind of all knew in a 41-17 loss to the Zona Cardinal- that they are still the Buffalo Bills. The Jets are okay- but I'm not overly impressed with them- I smell 8-8. Is Miami good? I have no idea- maybe. Basically what I'm getting at is the AFC East is pretty open. It's filled with above average teams. Not that I'm biased, but I still like the Pats to take the division.
We got 17 votes in the weekly poll? Does that mean people are viewing the blog?
I voted a few times...but definitely not that many times.
Cassel's 2nd pick was kind of ugly--he underthrew Moss on another deep attempt...the first one wasn't too bad, he was hit while he threw.
