Halladay?

Tim Kurkjian just informed me on Baseball Tonight that the Red Sox could get Roy Halladay for Clay Buccholz, Daniel Bard, and a couple of other mid level prospects. How do we not do this? I know there are salary implications and an impending logjam in the rotation, but who cares? ROY HALLADAY. Halladay-Beckett-Lester-Wakefield-Smoltz-Penny-Matsuzaka..... that's a lot of talent right there. The Red Sox would absolutely win the World Series if they get him. Anybody disagree? All you people who read this blog I mean.

Whew. Haven't been here in a while.

My problem with this trade, though, is not so much Buchholz. It's Bard. Honestly, I feel like Bard is already better than Papelbon, and is 4(?) years younger. Having a strong closer is huge to a baseball team, and we're gonna need Bard once Paps is gone. And he'll be gone, trust me.

Paps will go for some huge contract somewhere. Rivera's replacement?

What we need is for Timmy to come back off the DL and give us some solid starts.

I don't know what the sox deal is right now... they're sort of depressing me.

Well, at least Beckett and Lester are filthtastic right now. Buchholz, to me, should have been traded while he had value. I like the kid and want to give him a chance, but his ERA is 6+, and has been ever since that no-hitter. We have a couple other good pitching prospects on the farm who might be better than him, and we could have landed a major name if we threw in Buchholz.

I'll be the first to eat crow if this turns out to be Theo's most genius move of all time when CB turns into the next Lincecum.

Also...is Josh Reddick really good, or a fluke? I think I like the way he looks in a BoSox uni.
