Last Thursday's Showdown and Matt Cassel's Future

This was my first game as a 21 year old at a bar called Buffalo Billiards, because the NFL would have me pay exorbitant amounts of money for their mediocre television station.

Please, please-- hold your applause.

Anyways, it wasn't a Pats bar. But it wasn't a Jets bar either. As a result, there were a lot of Pats fans, and the less douchey variety of Jets fans. A pretty even split -- there aren't that many Patriots in the city, and there aren't very many of that type of Jets fans.

I tend to get worked up over rivalry games, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not upset about this one. The Jets blew an EIGHTEEN point lead against a Patriot team that seems to be afraid of entering the end zone from the red zone. They've got all their stars, while we're missing Brady, Harrison, Maroney, etc. I'm not making excuses, because we don't need any after Michael Vic--err Matt Cassel's performance, but it's right there on the table. A game that the Jets straight up had by halftime was decided by a coin toss.

So the question remains -- after a performance like the one he has put up this season, what is in the stars for Matt Cassel? It's kind of strange that I've come to think of him as "our guy", despite all the benchwarming he's done for the past three seasons. For this reason, I think I'd rather see him go play somewhere in the NFC. 49ers maybe? Lions? Who knows? This guy is rising to the occasion and definitely deserves a raise and a starting role next season, but I still think Tom Brady is THE guy for us.

In any case, I wish Matt well, he's had to put up with a lot of shit from critics and fans alike, and now he's shoving it in their faces. I think I can respect that.

I, for one, am jealous of your status as a 21 year old.
