Good bye, Josh McDaniels.

The man reported to be the mastermind behind the 2007-2008 Patriots scoring machine is with us no more.

The Denver Broncos have announced that they are hiring him as their head coach. There's no denying that Denver is possession of some offensive weapons -- Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, and Tony Scheffler on top of some talented guards and tackles.

However, that is no guarantee of success. Lest we forget, a week or two before McDaniels was named head coach, two former Patriots coordinators-turned-head coaches were fired. I'm talking about Eric "Mangina" Mangini and Romeo "Who?" Crennel, both sporting a cumulative losing record in the their three seasons as head coach of the New York Bretts and the Cleveland Somethingorothers.

I wish him luck as a coach, because I do appreciate what McDaniels has done for us, but he's beginning a long coaching career with the Broncos, so I don't think he will ever really be remembered as "our guy", no matter what he may have done for the Patriots offense. I could be wrong though -- feel free to debate.

..Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, and now Josh McDaniels. Weis has been a disaster at Nortre Dame, Crennel has morphed into Art Shell 2.0 with the Browns, and Mangini- well the verdict is still out on him as he finished above .500 in three seasons with the Jets and is getting another shot with the Browns.

This is McDaniels first head coaching job, so to say that he's going to have a long career with Denver is more than hasty. I know I wouldn't bet on it.

I do know that losing all of these coaches hasn't helped them. I remember wondering what effect losing Weis and Crennel in early 2005 would have on the Pats future-- they haven't won a Superbowl since. Fortunately we still have BILL BELLICHICK who probably already knew this was going to happen, and has one somebody ready to step in.

Also- lets hope Scott Pioli stays home.

I meant a long coaching career in general, but yeah, point taken.
